Pittsburgh Ranks Among Best Cities For An Active Lifestyle

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The results of holiday eating may have some of you keeping your head down when you pass a mirror. The average person in the United States consumes 4,500 calories and 229 grams of fat on Thanksgiving alone.

If you're looking to shed pounds, it may be easier to do in Pittsburgh than in other parts of the country.

According to Wallethub.com, the Steel City ranks as the fifth best city for an active lifestyle.

Why, you ask? Analysts took a look at key aspects of a city that can make it easier for residents to drop extra weight, and Pittsburgh ended up with some nice scores.

· 44th - Average Monthly Fitness-Club Fee
· 35th - Number of Sports Clubs per Capita
· 1st - Number of Swimming Pools per Capita
· 1st - Number of Baseball Fields per Capita
· 20th - Number of Basketball Hoops per Capita
· 39th - Number of Public Golf Courses per Capita
· 18th - Number of Fitness Centers per Capita
· 21st - Walk Score

Other cities that landed high on the list include Scottsdale (No. 1), Orlando (No. 2), Tampa (No. 3) and Cincinnati (No. 4). Philadelphia also made the list, coming in at 48.
