Woman Allegedly Caught On Camera Stealing From Macy's Turns Self In

GREENSBURG (KDKA) - Troopers say a woman accused of stealing hundreds of dollars in merchandise from a Greensburg Macy's turned herself in.

Alissa Bordonaro, 34, turned herself in after seeing surveillance video of the alleged crime on the news. In the video, a woman is seen taking several items without security tags into the dressing room, and leaving with them in her backpack.

Bordonaro is now facing retail theft charges.

Her boyfriend, Derek Shank, accompanied her as she surrendered to state police, and he said that Bordonaro stole because of a drug problem.

"She had a drug habit. I'm an addict in recovery and she's an addict in recovery. It happens," Shank said.

It has happened before. Bordonar has at least six prior retail theft convictions dating back to 2004.

"I don't wish a drug problem on anybody, but I've been through it and she's going through it. Its part of life. We live and learn," Shank said.

Bordonaro is out free on $5,000 bond.
