Authorities said Studvant was arrested after 22-year-old Regis Jones was shot Dec. 9 in a walkway between Sister Thea Bowman Catholic Academy and St. James Catholic Church in Wilkinsburg.

Studvant said he was walking with Jones when the other man pulled a gun and attempted to rob him. Authorities said he told investigators that the two struggled over the gun and tumbled down a flight of stairs, and he was ultimately able to get control of the gun and shot Jones eight times.
