Steelers Fans React To Season-Ending Loss

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Across town, there was an early excitement in the air.

The Steelers weren't healthy, but the fans were hopeful going into Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

"Ben Roethlisberger is irreplaceable as a quarterback. If you had to pick between Antonio Brown and Roethlisberger, it's Ben," said fan Graham Schmidt.

For the Steelers, it all came down to this one game. One play at a time, momentum built during the first half. It wasn't a high scoring game, but it was enough for fans to be optimistic.

"It wasn't exactly what I expected. There was a lot of different things going on. Martavis dropping that pass at the end of the first quarter didn't help," said one fan.

By the second half, Steelers fans were not ready to give up on the season. But during the fourth quarter, the wind shifted. What started out looking like a Steelers win began to slip away.

The sole Broncos fan at Bettis Grille said he enjoyed the moment, but wanted company in a sea of black and gold.

"I'm from Denver, I came here to meet some friends, Now, I'm regretting that decision because now I'm getting heckled," said Cale Hunt.

It was the end of the season for the Steelers and their fans, who are now looking ahead to next year.

"Sad end to the season, but next year we'll be healthy, gotta hope we can make a run at it," Chris Crighton said.
