Police Investigating Double Murder In Esplen

ESPLEN (KDKA)- Pittsburgh Police homicide detectives are looking into a double murder in the Esplen neighborhood.

Just before midnight, police received a 911 call from the 4000 block of Windgap Avenue in the Windgap Industrial Park.

Neighbors said they heard about nine gun shots and also heard one of the victims screaming for help before collapsing. They didn't realize at the time that another man had also been fatally wounded.

"I hear some gunshots. Then, I hear some guy out here screaming for help. Looked out the window, [saw] him here and called 911," Ben Livingston said. "He only yelled two or three times then it got real quiet."

Neighbors ran out to help. One young man was lying in the street, while another man was found minutes later, in the driver's seat of a car.

"There was all types of gunshots on the side of the car. It was messed up," Livingston said. "To me, it was just depressing to see a young black man dead. Two black men at that."

No information has been released about potential suspects and Livingston is concerned at how easy guns can end up in the wrong hands.

"This gun stuff [has to] stop. I'd like to know where these kids are getting these guns from. I can get a gun quicker than I can get a can of beer," he said.

There may be surveillance video available, but it's yet to be determined if it will aid in the investigation.
