2 Women Pistol-Whipped, Injured In Crafton Heights Armed Robbery

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating after two women were pistol-whipped and robbed inside their car in Crafton Heights.

According to police, the incident happened in the 1600 block of Crucible Street around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Two women, ages 39 and 31, along with a 5-year-old girl were sitting in a car waiting for a friend in a parking lot.

At that time, a man approached the car and got into the back seat. Then, he placed a gun on his lap and demanded money from the two women.

The man allegedly grabbed a purse from one of the women and pistol-whipped her in the head. The other woman refused to give up her purse and was also pistol-whipped in the head.

During the exchange, a female suspect approached the car and asked the driver if she was okay. However, she slammed the door shut as the victim tried to get out of the car.

Both suspects attempted to drag the driver out of the vehicle. However, the driver was able to remain in the vehicle by putting the car in reverse.

The suspects fled the scene on foot with two purses, cash and a tablet.

Both women were injured, but only one was taken to the hospital for treatment. She was last listed in stable condition. The 5-year-old girl was not harmed.

The male suspect is was believed to be about 19 years old. He is about 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds with a medium build.

The female suspect has only been described as wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt.
