4 People Facing Charges In Alleged Synthetic Marijuana Business

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane says law enforcement on the state and local levels have busted an illegal synthetic marijuana business in Cranberry, Butler County.

The owner of the Glass Gone Wow store, 71-year-old Richard Sallade, and his 67-year-old girlfriend, Patricia Quinn, are facing drug sale and conspiracy charges.

Two other men associated with the business have been accused of being drug couriers.

Sallade told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti that he's innocent.

"They make a mountain out of a molehill," Sallade said. "Two-and-a-half, three years ago, everybody was selling this thing called 'potpourri.' As soon as they notified me with a letter and said that it was going to be illegal, I took the stuff, I took it up to Cranberry Police and I turned it in."

Sallade added, "I know you can still buy it in places, but I don't deal with it. I don't need it at my age."

The Attorney General Office said officials seized about $1.6 million worth of synthetic marijuana over the course of the investigation.

Pennsylvania passed a law making synthetic drugs illegal in 2013.
