Western PA Humane Society Helps Mississippi Humane Society Affected By Tornadoes

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Western Pennsylvania Humane Society is helping some of the four-legged survivors of the recent Mississippi tornadoes who are in need of care.

Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue Team (PAART) transported 25 puppies from the Tunica Humane Society in Tunica, Miss., to the Western PA Humane Society. The puppies are between the ages of 8 weeks and 4 months old, and some were survivors of the tornadoes in Mississippi.

The Western PA Humane Society says taking in these puppies will help to alleviate the overpopulation in Tunica.

"The Western PA Humane helps animals in need when they are able, whether they in Pittsburgh or across the country," said Joy Braunstein, Executive Director of the Western PA Humane Society. "The partnership between PAART, Tunica Humane Society, and the Western PA Humane Society has helped to bring more than 100 dogs to safety and allowed them to be adopted into loving homes."

The puppies will be given vaccinations and microchips, and they will be spayed and neutered. Information about the puppies will be available on the Western PA Humane Society's Facebook and website once they're ready for adoption.
