Get Marty: Woman Suffering From Chronic Back Pain Gets New Mattress
UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- An emotional email from a Uniontown woman got the Get Marty team rolling quickly.
"Nerve damage I have caused my legs to go numb," said Lori McElroy. "I am in desperate need of a bed. I don't need money; I just need a bed."
McElroy sent the email to Get Marty after reaching a desperation point in her life.
"I cannot lift my legs. I can barely walk. I cannot work. I've had back fusion surgery," says McElroy.
Years of injuries from manual labor left McElroy with severe back problems.
Mattress Firm, the largest mattress company in America, stepped up big.
"It's just the right thing to do, plain and simple," says Mattress Firm representative Ron Harless.
The Uniontown Mattress Firm store gave McElroy a mattress and box spring free. The cost of the set is well over $1,000.
"We do this every day. It's why I'm working for this company," says Harless.
"I am so grateful. I cannot believe this is happening, "says McElroy.
McElroy describes the special gift as "life changing."
