Nude Photo Investigation At Peters Township Middle School

PETERS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - An investigation has been launched surrounding the sharing of nude photos at Peters Township Middle School.

The issue came to light on Jan. 29 when a student told administrators that nude pictures of female students were being sent from one cell phone to another among middle school students.

Parents are more than concerned about the alleged photos.

"I would say that's completely wrong, I'd be disturbed in my kids were receiving anything like that, I'd be taking their cell phones away," one mother said.

Chief Harry Frucht would not go into further detail about the pictures, or say how many students were involved, but did say that there is a lot of ground to cover.

"We have the phone, we're doing a dump on the phone. We've done a dump on one of the apps, we got a number of pictures. There's other apps we have to looks at, each app has who knows what on it, and who know how many people we will have to interview," Frucht said.

The Peters Township School District sent a statement reading: "The matter was immediately turned over to the Peters Township police who are investigating. While the pictures were reportedly taken outside the school setting, disciplinary actions have been taken by the school."

Chief Frucht had strong words for students who willingly take inappropriate photos of themselves and send them to others.

"If the photograph was taken by the individual, male or female between the ages of 12 and under 18, she's as much a guilty party as the person who received it. She is not a victim in this case or he is not a victim," he said.
