Police: Man Used His 275-Pound Body To Restrain Girlfriend

BUTLER, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man who allegedly used his 275-pound body to restrain his girlfriend has been jailed on domestic violence charges.

The Butler Eagle reports 62-year-old John Prementine held down his 55-year-old girlfriend for nearly an hour by resting his body on hers.

The woman tells Butler Township police she struggled to breathe feared she was going to die. According to a criminal complaint, Prementine told her, "If we are both going to die, we are going to die together."

Police say three people eventually arrived, including a family member of the woman's, who saw Prementine on top of the woman and intervened in the Saturday night dispute.

Prementine remained jailed Wednesday on charges of unlawful restraint, simple assault and harassment and faces a preliminary hearing March 24.

His public defender didn't immediately comment.
