Second Round Of Snow Prompts More Advisories & Alerts
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Flakes have been flying on and off throughout the day, but the next round of winter weather is working its way across the area tonight.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7 a.m. Thursday for much of Western Pennsylvania.
The affected counties are:
Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Fayette, Forest, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Venango and Westmoreland.
The advisory is in effect until Thursday evening for some of the higher elevation areas.

According to KDKA-TV Chief Meteorologist Jeff Verszyla says any additional accumulation tonight and into Thursday morning will be 1 to 2 inches locally and 2 to 3 inches in the Laurel Highlands.
"So more scattered snow showers as we head through tonight and early [Thursday]. One to two inches locally, which is the same amount we've seen over the last 24 period and the 24 hour period before that," Verszyla said.

"We will see flakes and flurries continuing to fly," Verszyla said. "As we get beyond sunset, as often is the case, the likelihood of seeing a coating of snow on roadways will increase as the sun goes down and the atmosphere then cools over the course of the evening."
Conditions tonight will be brisk and cool as the bitter cold temperatures move in for the weekend.
Thursday's high will be 21 degrees.
Because of that, Beaver County officials says they will open three warming shelters from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. The shelters will be located at:
- The Cornerstone located at 1217 7th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010
- The Franklin Center located at 524 Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa, PA 15001
- New Brighton Municipal Building located at 610 Third Avenue, New Brighton PA 15066
