Woman Drives Away With Gas Pump Still Attached, Arrested For DUI

BUTLER (KDKA) – A Butler County woman is facing DUI charges after driving away from a gas station with a hose attached to her car.

Investigators say the incident happened back on Feb. 5 at the Sunoco along East Jefferson Street in Butler.

Police were called after Jerri Slagle, 46, of Butler Township, drove away from the gas pump with the hose still attached to her car. When a car pulls away with the nozzle still attached, the pressure causes the hose to tear automatically from the gas pump without causing a fire or explosion.

Officers quickly spotted Slagle and pulled her over in a GetGo parking lot on East Main Street.

While speaking with Slagle, officers asked her what time it was. She believed it was 7 a.m., when it was 5:30 p.m.

According to police criminal complaint, Slagle claimed she had been drinking the night before.

Slagle failed three field sobriety tests and was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.321 percent, which is four times higher than the legal limit.

She is scheduled to be in court for a preliminary hearing next month.
