Police Investigating After 1 Man Injured In Swissvale Shooting

SWISSVALE (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a man was injured in a Swissvale shooting early Monday morning.

According to police, a 23-year-old man was shot in the arm, while inside a car on Melcher Way. The man then drove the car across Monongahela Avenue, onto Burton Street where he crashed into a truck and another car.

At that time, the 23-year-old victim got out and ran to a nearby house to call 911.

"I'm a little upset, because I don't know when it's going to stop," said Carmie Blocky, who's lived on Burton Street her entire life. "I don't know if its drug related or anything like that, but it's got to stop."

Investigators spent most of the morning collecting evidence and surveying the scene. Evidence markers could be seen in the alley and on the street near the damaged vehicles. Police say the man refused to give any information about the shooting.

"It's sad," said Blocky. "It's just a sad situation for this town. Because growing up here, it was the best."

Blocky said incidents like this make her afraid to go out of her home.

"I won't even walk my dogs, because I don't know what's going to happen," she said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Swissvale Police or the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit at (412)-473-1300.
