Wind Advisory Issued For Most Of Western Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh region has seen some nice weather over the past couple of days, but some major changes are now rolling through.

According to the National Weather Service, a Wind Advisory will be in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday through 5 a.m. Wednesday.

The local counties under the advisory include:

Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Venango, Washington and Westmoreland

KDKA Chief Meteorologist Jeff Verszyla says we can expect to see rain showers tonight and gusty winds.

"We'll continue to see scattered rain showers throughout much of this evening and through the first part of the overnight period, probably up through about 2 o'clock in the morning," he said.

Temperatures will fall overnight.

"It's going to be after 2 a.m. that what moisture is left and as the atmosphere cools, will likely transition over to some snow showers late tonight with less than an inch of accumulation, mainly on non-paved surfaces," Verszyla said. "Also part of the equation is strong winds sustained at 15 to 20 with gusts near 40 miles an hour."

When you wake up to start your Wednesday, it will be significantly colder.

"When you wake up [Wednesday] morning, big change in temperatures, right around 30 degrees and not much movement throughout the day. Our high [Wednesday], only 33," Verszyla said.
