Woodland Hills Bus Monitor Accused Of Roughing Up 6-Year-Old

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Woodland Hills bus monitor is accused of roughing up a 6-year-old.

The boy's mother, who doesn't want to be identified, broke down in tears when KDKA spoke with her, just moments after she saw the surveillance of the incident.

"He's a 6-year-old, a kindergartner, and there's no reason for her to be putting her hands on him like that," she said.

The school district agrees that never should have happened. After seeing the surveillance video, the bus monitor has been suspended from the job pending an investigation.

"We have placed the employee on leave. That employee will not be with any students until we've had a chance to investigate this further," said Woodland Hills Superintendent Alan Johnson.

But the boy's mother doesn't want her back on the job.

"You should be able to trust them to transport my child safely. I should be able to go to work and not have to worry about what might happen to my son on the bus," she said.

Its not clear what prompted the confrontation.

KDKA wasn't allowed access to the surveillance video, in order to protect the identity of students. But both the mother and the superintendent agree, it shouldn't have happened.

"At one point, it looked like she is either swatting him or punching him. At one point he's actually trying to get away from her," the mother said.

Turtle Creek Police have been called to assist with the investigation.
