Dead Puppies Found Near Shoebox On Mercer Co. Road
SHARON (KDKA) -- The Mercer County Humane Society is asking for help finding out how two dead puppies ended up the side of the road in Sharon.
According to WKBN News, a woman was driving along the road when she spotted the puppies next to a shoebox. The Mercer County Humane Society said the puppies were likely in the box at some point because of blood stains inside.
The puppies, identified as a pit bull mix, still had their umbilical cords attached. They are to be cremated.
Authorities have made it clear how they feel about the person responsible.
"Whoever did this, I mean regardless of whether the puppies were still born or died naturally, I feel they have no compassion for life or death with the animals, to leave them on the side of the road," said Renee Dorogy, a humane police officer.
A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to an animal cruelty citation.
