Name Of Man Killed By Johnstown Police Released

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in western Pennsylvania have released the name of a man shot and killed by police officers in Johnstown last week.

Cambria County coroner Jeffrey Lees said 41-year-old Daniel Burkhardt died of multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Police said three officers responded to the city's West End on Wednesday evening after a report of an armed man. Spokesman Clifford Greenfield said the man had a knife in each hand and refused to drop them as he advanced toward officers. Greenfield said police deployed shotgun bean bag rounds and a stun gun but fired after the man continued to advance.
