Crews Rushing To Fix Damage From Forbes Avenue Water Main Break

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Workers are rushing to fix a gaping hole beneath the Forbes Avenue sidewalk and the road.

"What we're going to have to do is repair some of the undermining to the road that was caused during the water main break," said Brendan Schubert with Pittsburgh Water And Sewer.

As inbound traffic continues to get detoured onto Morewood Avenue and outbound traffic gets squeezed onto Craig Street, to the tune of 19,000 drivers a day, crews will begin working around the clock Monday night.

They will be moving the 20-inch water main closer to the existing CMU buildings and away from the construction project that is suspected of causing the main break.

Officials say it's six weeks worth of work, crammed into a two week stretch.
