Money Found Near Toll Booth On Turnpike's Southern Beltway
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - State Police at the Pittsburgh Barracks are investigating after a Turnpike worker found cash on Monday afternoon near a toll booth on Toll Road 576.
The stretch of road is also known as the Southern Beltway, which is an extension of the mainline Turnpike.
Trooper Robin Mungo says they can't say how much money was found because investigators will need to get specifics from the person who lost the money, when and if an individual reports cash missing.
However, Trooper Mungo did say that "the money was all contained."
"It was not scattered and it may have fallen out of a vehicle, perhaps when the vehicle stopped at one of the automated toll booths near McDonald," Trooper Mungo said.

Meanwhile, across the state in suburban Philadelphia, a transit worker found a bag loaded with more than $15,000 in the middle of a road and turned it in to police.
The Philadelphia Inquirer says Bob Tracey was driving home from work Monday night when he spotted a black bag in the street. Tracey says he thought it was a woman's purse, so he pulled over to grab it. When he opened it he saw dozens of crisp $100 and $20 bills.
He immediately called police. It's unclear where the money came from.
Trooper Mungo says anyone with questions about ownership of the missing money found along the Southern Beltway should contact State Police in Moon Township at 412-299-1607 within 90 days.
