SWAT Called To Incident In Strip District

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A SWAT team was called to an incident in the Strip District early Saturday morning.

According to the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety, officers on patrol in the Strip District heard multiple gunshots around 1:35 a.m. While searching the area for a shooter, more shots were fired, and an officer took cover in an alley, believing he was being targeted. They were unable to locate the shooter at the time.

Around 2 a.m., police say more gunfire was heard and an officer spotted the muzzle flash from the roof of a residential building in the 1600-block of Penn Avenue. SWAT was then called and sent into the building, where they found 24-year-old Sean Bastin, who said he had just moved in.

Police searched the residence and found multiple firearms and used casings, drug paraphernalia and a small amount of THC.

Bastin was taken into custody around 4:15 a.m. and faces charges including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and drug possession charges.
