Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary Prepping For Annual Fabric Fair

GREEN TREE (KDKA) -- Thirty members of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary turn out each Wednesday at the organization's warehouse in Green Tree to sort fabrics and yarn for the 28th annual Fabric Fair.

Chairperson Marilyn Huff has been sorting Fabric Fair fabrics for 22 years.

She says the materials are donated, year round, by local residents.

"We always get a lot of fabric, and it's always nice fabric that we can use. And quilting people use the smaller pieces," Huff says.

The fair will take place at the Salvation Army temple on McNeilly Road.

They've sorted and sewn enough fabric to fill eight rows of boxes on one side of the warehouse, and four rows of boxes on the other.

Judy Pugh is in charge of pricing.

"Cotton for quilting, $1.75 a yard. And we've got a lot of that here," Pugh says. "And this is wool, $6a yard. So, a piece like that would run $18."
