Car Launched 100 Feet Over Hill In Connellsville

CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) -- Police say a vehicle flew 100 feet over an embankment in Connellsville Monday morning.

Officers say that the driver was going the wrong way on Route 119 at a very high rate of speed around 12:30 a.m.

Somehow, the car ended up over a hill and the driver was trapped inside.

Nikki Bish lives nearby. She said the crash made an extremely loud noise.

"I heard 'boom', sounded like a big truck hit something," Bish said. "Didn't look good at all."

A single male passenger was unresponsive as Connellsville Township Volunteer firefighters desperately tried to get him out of the car. He was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital.

"He looked terrible. We just saw his back, he looked like he had to be in pain," Bish said. "He looked dead. Honestly he looked like he was dead."

Police have not commented on the identity or condition of the driver.
