Police: Man Trying To Lure Kids Into Van In Washington

WASHINGTON (KDKA) -- Police in Washington say someone has been trying to lure children into a van.

According to a post on social media, the vehicles is a white work van with faded lettering of a plumbing and heating company on the side.

Officers say the driver is a middle-aged white man with a dark colored beard. He was seen wearing a ball cap. Police say they have identified a suspect, but have not released that person's identity.

Reports state that on Sunday, the man approached several children on Beech Street, and tried to get them to go inside the vehicle.

Jacob Belcastro, 12, told KDKA he was playing with his friends when he was approached by a man.

"He said, 'You want some candy?'" Belcastro said. "Then he was like, 'Can you get in the back of my van?'"

He refused and ran home to his mother, who called the police.

"I'm afraid that if he wasn't with his friends, he probably would have given in," Rebecca Belcastro said.

There was another report that someone in a white van approached boys playing basketball in the same neighborhood.
