Man Accused Of Trying To Break Into Home With Stun Gun
WESTMORELAND CO. (KDKA) -- Tinsmill is a quiet town in Westmoreland County. But for Joni Bertelle, it was anything but peaceful when a stranger came to the back door.
"We unlocked the back, and this guy started coming in with this stun gun flashlight that was clicking," she said.
The suspect was 21-year-old Michael Lange of Vandergrift.
"I didn't know if he was trying to get in and get my kids," Bertelle explained.
With that in mind, a desperate struggle ensued, with Lange allegedly still trying to get in with the stun gun.
"I tried to shut the door and his arm was in the way, it was scary," she said.
With the help of her stepfather, Bertelle was able to stand her ground and keep the intruder out.
Lange, unable to get in, gave up the effort. But he didn't make it far. He reportedly stumbled one street over and sat down in front of another home. That's where he was apprehended by state police.
Michael Lange faced multiple felony counts and is in the Westmoreland County Jail on $100,000 cash bond.
Bertelle said the person taking the incident the worst is her 3-year-old son.
"He remembers everything, he thinks he's coming back. We have to reassure him that he's in jail, and he's not coming back," she said.
