Sanders' Pa. Campaign Organizers Gearing Up For Presidential Candidate's Pittsburgh Visit
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has chosen Pittsburgh as his first campaign stop in the state. He will speak at a rally at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
Ryan Hughes is the Sanders Campaign Director in Pennsylvania. He was also the director in Michigan, where Sanders pulled out a win.
"We're going to leave no part of this state untouched," said Hughes. "You'll see several visits from the Senator. Obviously, we're extremely excited to see him come here to Pittsburgh and you're going to see him talk about his support for labor unions over the years. His support for steel workers."
At the Sanders' campaign office on the South Side, supporters are busy making calls. The same is true at Hillary Clinton's office in East Liberty.
Hillary campaign organizers here expect the weeks leading up to the primary to be busy ones.
"We're going to be knocking on doors and making phone calls," said Moe Shatara, a field organizer for the Hillary for Pennsylvania campaign. "At the end of the day, this is a grass roots campaign. We're really confident about what's happening here in Pennsylvania, but we're not taking anything for granted."

While Pennsylvania could prove important in the Democratic race, it's shaping up to be just as important, if not more, for Republican candidates fighting for delegates.
"I think it's huge," said Allegheny County Republican Committee D. Raja when asked about the importance of the Pennsylvania Primary.
"Donald Trump, as you can see, is causing this huge shift of voters to come our way and John Kasich was born here," he said.
And as for the delegate counts: "I don't think it's going to get locked up before they get here. I think they're going to get here and then it's going to be a fight after that," said Raja.
