The Meadows To Host World Fighting Championships

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - With the World Fighting Championships coming to The Meadows Racetrack and Casino this Saturday, April 9, World Fighting Championship President Matt McGovern joined Chris Mueller of The Starkey and Mueller Show to preview the big fights.

West Virginia's own Tommy Karpency is on the card and will be fighting for the WBA title against Boston's Paul Gonzalves.

McGovern gave us some insight into what kind of fighter Karpency is and how excited they are to have him fighting in his home state.

"A local southpaw guy who fought for the world title three times, and we're fortunate to have him," McGovern said. "When we first brought this idea of doing fights at The Meadows Casino, it was almost out of the question that we would ever have Tommy Karpency, but he really wanted to fight in front of his hometown friends and family and both of his brothers are fighting on the card, so we're pretty fortunate to have this level of card in our first show here."
