Man Killed In Crash After Threatening People Who Tried To Help Him

West Finley (KDKA) -- A man was killed in a crash in Washington County Saturday.

It happened around 7 p.m. on Fraction Road in West Finley.

According to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police, Larry Allen Layton, 61, drove off the road and his vehicle became stuck on a steep shoulder.

Passing motorists stopped to help Layton, but he "became belligerent" and threatened to fight the good Samaritans if they called the police. So, they went back to their own vehicles.

Before police could arrive, Layton managed to free his vehicle. When it was freed, it traveled over an embankment, fell through a steep pasture and hit many trees.

Layton was not wearing a seatbelt, and died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
