Police Seek Suspect After Woman Is Assaulted In North Park
McCANDLESS (KDKA) -- Allegheny County Police are investigating after a woman told them she was assaulted outside of a bathroom in North Park Thursday afternoon.
Authorities say it happened near the Parish Hill area.
The suspect did not have a weapon, and the 38-year-old woman was not sexually assaulted.
Acting Allegheny County Police Superintendent James Morton said the woman had just left the restroom when a man approached her and they started scuffling.
After a brief fight, police say he fled and she used her cell phone to call for help.
"She sustained a head injury, an injury to her hand and a cut on her face," Morton said.
The woman was taken to a local hospital to be checked out, Morton said.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5-feet-11-inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds.
Natalie Broadwater, of Ross Township, who was jogging in North Park Thursday, told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti, "It's crazy. I mean, I always thought this was a safe area. I've never heard of anything like this happening here."
