Braddock Hills Restaurant Defies Health Department Orders To Close

BRADDOCK HILLS (KDKA) -- A restaurant in Braddock Hills remained open Friday despite the Allegheny County Health Department's orders to close.

The ACHD initially issued a closure order to Rudy's Submarines, located at 270 Yost Boulevard, Thursday.

The health department found that the restaurant did not have a food protection manager, a hand-washing sink in the food preparation area or date-marking equipment. Since the restaurant did not have a hand-washing sink, it also faced violations for lack of hot water in a hand-washing sink and lack of soap to wash hands.

The ACHD also says that the surfaces where they prepared food were not properly cleaned or sanitized. Additionally, the floor and ceiling of the restaurant were in poor condition.

Rudy's Submarines remained open on Friday, despite the closure order. The ACHD has ordered the restaurant to close for the second time and posted a closure letter to the facility's front door. Rudy's Submarines should remain closed until all the violations are corrected and a re-inspection is completed.
