WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) -- Five people suffered injuries in a car crash in Westmoreland County Sunday morning.

A man, his girlfriend and two small children were inside a car that flipped after being struck from behind by a maroon pickup truck.

Police are looking at several possible reasons why the truck ran right into the rear of the car. The male driver was completely ejected from the car, and the female passenger was partially thrown to the ground. The two children, who were in car seats, were trapped.

Good Samaritans helped one infant out of the car, another small child had to be cut out by rescue workers.

There is no word on the conditions of either the children or adults. But, witnesses say the two adults in the car were able to communicate with paramedics before they left for the hospital.
