Woman Injured After Hitting Several Parked Cars In Stanton Heights

STANTON HEIGHTS (KDKA) - Several cars parked along a road in Stanton Heights were damaged early this morning.

Police say a woman ran into the cars and kept going, leaving a trail of destruction behind her.

The incident happened in the 4600 block of Stanton Avenue around 2 a.m.

"I always park on the street this is very unusual," Richard Meritzer said.

This morning, Meritzer's commute was not at all what he anticipated.

"I woke up this morning and I saw them towing my neighbor's car away and I noticed that the tow truck was in the spot where my car was supposed to be and I panicked and called police and they said, 'Oh yeah, it was hit,'" Meritzer said.

Meritzer was fast asleep when Pittsburgh Police say a woman hit three cars.

"They hit it and pushed the car forward, so the back is probably all crumpled in, but the motor is probably fine," he said.

When police arrived, they found the driver a few blocks away in the 1100 block of Woodbine Street. Police believe she kept going and lost a wheel at one point.

The female driver was taken to West Penn Hospital in stable condition. Authorities haven't said what caused the woman to lose control, but don't believe she was under the influence.

"People make mistakes. Maybe she'll be a little more careful now," Meritzer said. "Hopefully, this is a learning experience for her."

The driver will face several citations once she's released from the hospital.
