'Gingerbread Man' Burglary Suspect Apologizes After Taunting Police
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Heath Miller, 25, climbed out of a transport van on Thursday, full of apologies.
"I'm okay now, I'm manning up, taking responsibility for what I did. I apologize to my victims and everybody affected," Miller said.
He is accused stealing jewelry and other valuables from several homes in Ross Township, West View and Shaler.
In one of the burglaries, police say Miller was captured on security cameras as he made his way throughout the house.
Police say the video showed Miller shattering a sliding glass door, walking down the stairs carrying a hammer with a cigarette in his mouth.
In another shot, his face was in full view of the camera.

Police were trying to track Miller down. In one instance, they got very close, but he managed to slip away.
That's when he bragged on his Facebook page: "They call me the gingerbread man. Catch me if you can. I'm running as fast as I can. Time for new scenery and a new state."
His bold statements and time on the run didn't last long before officials finally nabbed him.
"At the end of the day they're gonna get caught and they kind of look foolish when that happens," said Chief Deputy Kevin Kraus.
Miller's girlfriend, 27-year-old Jacklyn Waskiewicz blamed drugs.
"It's a shame what drugs do to people, to good people," she said.
"I let my pride get in the way, relapsed and didn't ask for help," Miller said.
