Handcuffed Man Back In Custody After Escaping From Butler Co. Constable

BUTLER (KDKA) – A manhunt in Butler County is over.

The incident started around 10:15 Tuesday morning. Bradley Cramer, 27, of Butler, was taken into custody by a Constable for failing to pay about $500 in fines.

Police say he was cooperating with officers at District Judge Kevin O'Donnell's office at the Sunnyview Complex in Butler.

"He was cooperative, to the point where he didn't want to be there," says Butler Township Police Chief John Hays.

Cramer somehow managed to get away from the Constable, slip through several doors, and ended up outside. That's when he ran away.

"Our officers, along with the city and the state, the Sheriff's department, scoured the area for him," says Chief Hays. "[We] looked through all the yards in the areas around there."

Two nearby elementary schools were put on lockdown.

After a thorough search, authorities found Cramer hiding at his grandmother's house around noon.

"It was the 1000 block of Center Avenue, which is probably four or five blocks from the District Judge's office," says Chief Hays.

Cramer was still wearing handcuffs. Chief Hays says he didn't resist officers, and was taken into custody again.

Now, instead of just a few summary offenses and fines, "He's going to be charged with escape," says Chief Hays.
