Mechanical Issue Prompts Diversion Of Paris-Bound Flight From Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A flight from Pittsburgh to Paris had to be diverted to New York last night.

According to Delta Airlines officials, Flight 96 diverted to JFK International Airport after the "fuel filter alert light" came on in the cockpit.

The plane safely landed at JFK and passengers remained on board while crews checked the filter and "corrected the issue."

It took crews nearly two hours to correct the issue. The plane left JFK at 10:14 p.m. and landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris at 5:38 a.m. EDT Thursday.

There is no word on how many people were on board.
