Owner Dies In Jefferson Hills Motel Shooting

JEFFERSON HILLS (KDKA) – A man was shot and killed inside motel in Jefferson Hills early Friday morning.

Police were called to the Jefferson Hills Motel on Route 51 around 4:15 for a report of a man being shot.

When they arrived, they found a man had been shot several times in the office area of the motel. He died at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 78-year-old Dehnad Taiedi, the owner of the establishment. Relatives say he lived on the property.

Police are looking into the possibility of this incident being a result of a robbery, but have not made any clear determination at this time.

Beth Greb owns a nearby restaurant. She got to work shortly after police arrived.

"I saw cops up at the Jefferson Hills Motel and that's not unusual. There's a lot of drug activity and a lot of transients," Greb said.

Jefferson Hills Police also confirmed that there have been a significant number of drug arrests over the years here.

"Mostly drug related activity, it's the type of motel that people come stay at for a night and then they leave," said Jefferson Hills Police Chief Gene Roach.

Officers are in the process of looking for surveillance video and interviewing witnesses at the scene.
