Pittsburgh, San Jose Mayors Place Bet On Stanley Cup Final

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It's all on the line for Pittsburgh as they prepare to face off with the San Jose Sharks in the NHL Stanley Cup Final series.

Mayor William Peduto placed a friendly bet on the series with San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo on Monday.

The Mayor of the losing town will make a donation to the winning Mayor's charity of choice and take a picture wearing the captain jersey of the winning team.

Mayor Peduto's charity of choice is the Hill House Association. Mayor Liccardo's charity of choice is Destination: Home.

The losing mayor will also send a gift basket full of local treats to the winning mayor.

Ahead of Game 1, both Mayors were feeling confident in their team.

"There's no chance for a penguin against a shark, either in nature or on the ice," said Mayor Sam Liccardo.

Those are fightin' words, but Peduto wasn't shaken.

"When it comes to the Penguins and Sharks, sharks may control the waters but we all know that penguins dominate on the ice," he said.

The puck drops for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final series in Pittsburgh tonight at 8 p.m. at CONSOL Energy Center.
