Man Accused Of Killing 2 People In Argument Over $40 To Stand Trial

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A man accused of murdering two people in Etna will stand trial.

Josh Huber is accused of killing Melissa Zuk, 22, of McCandless, and Derek Schindler, 30, of Glenshaw.

Their bodies were found in Huber's apartment in April.

According to police, Huber admitted to shooting Zuk and Schindler after an argument.

Today in court, his attorneys asked the judge to drop some of the charges,

"We believe that this is a self-defense case and that we will prove that at trial," defense attorney Robert Andrews said.

Huber claims that he was drinking and smoking pot with Zuk, Shchindler and another woman prior to the shooting.

They started arguing about $40 being missing and things escalated.

Police said Huber admitted to shooting Zuk first and then Schindler.

Neighbor Don Cox may be responsible for Huber's quick capture.

"I heard yelling and screaming coming from the apartment underneath me," said Cox. "I heard pop, pop, pop, pop, grabbed my phone, called 911, grabbed a 12-gauge and headed down the steps."

He says he encountered Huber as he appeared to be leaving.

"Stuck a 12-gauge in his face and made him get on the floor. It's hard to argue with a 12-gauge," he said.
