Beaver Co. Murder Victim Remembered At Emotional Vigil

BEAVER (KDKA) -- As family and friends gathered Wednesday night to remember a woman murdered in her Beaver County apartment, the suspect was being transferred back to the state as the investigation continues.

State Police say Edward Baker Jr. arrived back at the Beaver County Jail Wednesday evening.

He was transferred back to the area from Clark County, Kentucky. Police say he fled there after the shooting death of his former girlfriend. A suspect in the case, Baker was arrested Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, the victim, Addaleigh Huzyak, 30, was remembered during a candlelight vigil. Those that spoke about Huzyak remember her as a beautiful soul.

"She was just good spirited, great personality, always a fun person," close friend Agnes Assetta said.

Around 60 people stood outside the apartment building where Huzyak lived. It's also where she died Sunday night.

Baker Jr., 26, is accused of shooting Huzyak in the head.

"Domestic violence shouldn't be pushed under the rug," friend Kimberly Snow-Beck said.

Baker Jr. is a registered sex offender from a prior offense.

"I wish her family the best, and I hope he rots in prison. I do. It's a shame to say," Assetta said.

During the vigil, Huzyak's father, Rick, thanked everyone for coming. Messages were written to Huzyak on balloons before they were released into the sky.

"Devastation, hurt, pain," former co-worker Kathy Davidson said. "I never had to deal with anyone being murdered before. It's really hard to deal with."

"It is girls my age that get into relationships, and you think you're okay, and the truth is you're not. It's scary; it's an awakening because I've been in some abusive relationships myself," Assetta said.

"We want justice for Addy. That's all we want, so her soul can rest in peace," Snow-Beck said.

Baker has been charged with criminal homicide.
