Pirates' Cervelli Placed On 15-Day DL

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli should return to full baseball activities in about a month after being injured last week.

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced Saturday afternoon that Cervelli had been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a broken bone in his left hand. He underwent surgery for his injury Saturday, and the Pirates said the estimated recovery time before he could return to "full baseball activities" would be four to six weeks.

Cervelli left a game against the Miami Marlins on June 2 after he was hit by a pitch in the top of the second inning. He stayed in the game through the bottom of the third inning.
