Ex-Prosecutor Hired To Vet PPS Superintendent's Resume

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Public Schools board has hired a former state prosecutor to review the resume of the district's newly hired superintendent.

Forty-three-year-old Anthony Hamlet was hired last month to head the district and is to begin his new $210,000-a-year job July 1.

The board met Monday with Hamlet over questions newspapers have raised about his resume, and then hired attorney Laurel Brandstetter to review those concerns.

Two newspapers have reported that two Palm Beach County, Florida schools didn't improve their state ratings as much as Hamlet's resume says they did when he was their principal. He's also been accused of using information from other sources without attribution to define his views and educational philosophy.

Hamlet hasn't commented on the plagiarism allegations but has defended his record at the Florida schools.
