Squirrel Hill Store Selling Off Vinyl Albums At "Bargain Basement" Prices

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- From polka to pop, Jerry's Records carries every genre on vinyl, which, by the way, has been re-discovered by a younger generation.

Owner Jerry Weber has been selling records for 41 years.

"I've got the biggest and most confusing and most diverse record store in the world," he says. "And all I sell are used records."

He has a million of them. But the overflow will be sold off, starting Friday, for 50 cents apiece, in Jerry's Bargain Basement.

Jerry's son, Willie Weber turns on the lights, and gives KDKA the 50 cent tour.

"We have about 6,000 records. A few hundred DVDs, and some miscellaneous," he says.

Stacks are filled with names that once were famous, and others that still are. There's also a selection of CDs and DVDs.

For those of us who remember the Lone Ranger series, they have it on DVD; and the William Tell Overture does come with it. And then there's Perry Mason, who finished every single season undefeated.

But center stage is vinyl.

"Vinyl has a lot warmer sound to it," Willie Weber says.

But Jerry's son has a confession.

"I didn't like records when I was younger, because he made me carry them. I'd be like 8-years-old, sitting in the living room watching cartoons, and he'd go, 'Come here. Help me load the truck!'" he says.

As for that basement sale, Jerry says, "They're going to be going out to people, and hopefully, they'll get some use out of them."
