Officer Hurt, Suspect Gets Away After Chase Ends In Shadyside

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police are looking for a possible homicide suspect after a chase through East Liberty Friday night that ended in Shadyside.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, it all started around 9:50 p.m. along Friendship Avenue when an officer on patrol spotted the suspect who he believed was wanted on a warrant.

The suspect was driving a black Pontiac Bonneville near Harriet Street.

The officer tried to pull the car over, but the driver took off, and the officers gave chase through East Liberty.

It ended at the intersection of Canterbury Lane and Morewood Avenue in Shadyside where the suspect got out of his vehicle and managed to run away, eluding the officers.

Police set up a perimeter to search for the suspect, but they could not find him.

Investigators remained on the scene there late into Friday night.

Officials say one police officer suffered a knee injury in the chase.
