Police Unable To Safely Remove Deer Trapped Downtown
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A young deer caused some problems while it was wandering around downtown Pittsburgh early Sunday afternoon.
Around 10:30 a.m., reports began coming in that a young deer was seen running around the streets of downtown Pittsburgh. Eventually, it made its way into a loading dock by the old Pittsburgh Post-Gazette building where police cornered it to stop it from causing any more traffic problems.

Police attempted to make contact with multiple animal control resources, including the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pittsburgh Zoo, but they were unable to get any immediate assistance. As a result, police were left with no option but to put the deer down around noon.
Perry Muse, who works at a parking lot across the street, felt the situation could have been handled better.
"I understand it could be a safety issue for people and stuff like that, but come on, that's why they make tranquilizing guns," he said. "Just tranquilize it, take it back out, let it go, no harm. I cannot believe that they actually killed the thing."
