Police Investigating Deadly Shooting In Clairton

CLAIRTON (KDKA) -- Allegheny County Police are investigating a deadly Tuesday night shooting in Clairton.

The shooting happened just after 9:30 p.m. outside a residence in the 1700 block of Marion Circle.

Police were called to the scene for a shooting and found 51-year-old Anthony Belland suffering from several gunshot wounds.

He was taken to Jefferson Hospital, where he died a short time later.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office says Belland was from Clairton.

Shanneil Davis lives in Marion Circle and grew up with Belland.

"By the time I got to the steps I [saw] my friend...my lifelong friend lying on the ground...bleeding, he was holding his stomach and all this blood was coming out. He was just lying there...he was just lying there and I'm like, 'Tony hold on.' He was the nicest guy," Davis said.

Allegheny County Police say the victim might have been playing dice in the area just before the shooting.

They're asking for the public's help finding the shooter.

"We're asking for anyone who was in the area of Marion Circle from roughly 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. who may have witnessed any or all the of the events surrounding the shooting to call the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit at (412)-473 3100," said Lt. Andrew Schurman.

Allegheny County homicide detectives and Clairton Police are investigating.
