Police Investigating Fatal Shooting In Fineview

FINEVIEW (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in the city's Fineview neighborhood early Monday morning.

According to police, the incident happened in the 1700 block of Belleau Drive around 1:20 a.m.

When police arrived, they found a 28-year-old man who had been shot twice.

"Two shots were heard. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased black male in the courtyard. We believe he is 28-years-old," Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

The medical examiner identified the victim as James Swanson, 28, from Rankin. Social media postings indicated Swanson was a father of two.

The shooting happened in the courtyard of a housing complex. Neighbors gathered there after the shooting, as police searched the area for evidence. Police hope someone will come forward and help with their investigation.

"Hopefully, people will cooperate with our investigators share some information and tell us what happened here," Toler said.

This shooting happened at the same location where another man was shot less than two weeks ago. That victim was treated and released from a local hospital.

Anyone with information on this shooting should call the Violent Crime Unit of the Pittsburgh Police Department.
