Bob Walk: All-Star Voting Process Is Broken
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Bob Walk says he has an issue with this year's National League All-Star team.
The Cubs will dominate the team's starting lineup, with five Cubs taking the field for the NL to start the game (and perhaps six should Jake Arrieta earn the starting nod for the squad).
To Walk, a former All-Star himself, that's a sign that the All-Star voting process is clearly broken.
"I think it is," Walk said during his weekly Wednesday appearance on The Fan Morning Show. "That's just my opinion.
"I don't know the answer," he added. "I'm not sure as far as the voting, with the computers and things. Is there any way you can make people have one vote or two votes, instead of just vote, vote, vote, vote? I don't know what the answer is, but I don't like it."
Walk doesn't like seeing one team represent an entire league at the Midsummer Classic.
"The All-Star Game should be for the fans, but it should be for all the fans in the country," Walk said. "One team shouldn't be able to dominate the way they are."
"To me, the system is broken right now," Walk said. "I don't like it the way it is. I hate the fact that the infield is going to be all-Cubs. That's senseless, makes no sense at all to me."
