Police: Man Arrested For Dealing 4 Different Drugs

WILMERDING (KDKA) -- Rico Smith, 27, had nothing to say when he was escorted out of the North Versailles Police Department.

He was arrested Thursday morning when police served a search warrant at his Wilmerding home on Commerce Street.

The District Attorney's Narcotics Enforcement Team served the warrant with the help of North Versailles Police and Swissvale police after a three month long investigation.

"He was found what appeared to be sleeping. He was disoriented with female and child in the apartment with him," North Versailles Police Patrolman Norman Locke said.

Police say Smith seemed annoyed but was cooperative when taken into custody.

Laky, a K9 with North Versailles Police found drugs in the apartment.

"As a result of that we were able to seize roughly nine bricks of heroin, which a brick is 50 bags or doses, an amount of marijuana, cocaine and cash," Locke said.

Both powdered cocaine and crack cocaine were found in this false container of Comet.  Individual bags of marijuana were found in the bathroom, a jar of marijuana was found in the bedroom and heroin was found in a gallon baggie of rice also in the bedroom.  A total of $6,000 dollars worth of drugs, $800 in cash, cell phones and scales were seized.

Police say it's rare to find a drug dealer that deals all four types of drugs at once.

Neighbors are fed up.

"I love living here but don't like to see all the shenanigans going on," neighbor Pamela Ostien said.

Pamela Ostien lives in the apartment building next door.  She says she sees drug activity going on in Wilmerding everyday.

"I lock myself in my apartment. I don't deal with this stuff," Ostien said.

Police say they didn't find any weapons on Smith when they arrested him.

He's at the Allegheny County Jail facing multiple charges.
