Get Marty: Local Families Want To Donate Medical Equipment To Those In Need

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two local families who lost loved ones want to help you if they can.

"Our son would have wanted it this way," says Jim and Romie Boland.

The North Huntingdon couple lost their son at 44-years-old to MS. The Bolans have a significant amount of medical equipment they would like to give away to anyone who needs it.

"Terry never complained. He laid in his bed 24 hours a day and never complained about it. We bought him this equipment. He never used it," says Jim Boland.

The Bolands have a $5,000 to $10,000 walk-in tub. They also have a $10,000-plus air mattress bed. The couple also wants to give away a $2,000 shower chair. The tags are still on most of the items.

"Marty, please find some folks who need these things. It would make Terry so happy," says Romie Boland.

"I wish I had her here right now," says John Shimko. He lost his daughter to liver failure. Sitting in their basement, a $15,000 power wheelchair.

"I still have the owners manual. It's never been used. It just sits here," says John.

His daughter Lori donated all of her organs when she died. "She would love to know her power wheel chair was put to good use," says John.
