Pittsburgh Mayor, Police Chief Meet With Ministers In Aftermath Of Dallas Shootings
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto and Police Chief Cameron McLay met with ministers, community leaders and public safety officials on Friday in the wake of a sniper shooting in Dallas Thursday night which claimed the lives of five Dallas police officers.
Peduto and McLay wanted to assure them that one of their priorities has been, and continues to be, to improve relations with the African-American community.
Peduto told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti Friday night, "The only way we can get through this is by working together; think of where the city was 30 years ago, and where it is now. We got here by creating strategic partnerships, and we can do it again."

Chief McLay praised his officers for the way a protest march was handled Friday, with no trouble or incidents along the parade route.
"What happened in Dallas reminds us of what we're aware of, that is, anything can happen," McLay said.
Asked if he was concerned about possible copycats, he said yes. The chief said the city was looking at everything to make certain police are safe, while at the same time, keeping the city safe.
